An Nguy – From Online Star to Multi-talented Influencer

Back in 2011, a video titled “Do you think you’re good at English?” by a young man nicknamed “Du học sinh Mỹ” (Vietnamese student in America) paved the way for a new breed of influencers in Vietnam: vloggers. This marked the rise of names like JVevermind, HuyMe, and An Nguy, who gradually gained recognition and popularity.

Among them, An Nguy stood out as a rare female vlogger in the Vietnamese scene. A few years ago, she was widely known for her outspoken personality, youthful appearance, and witty remarks that defied her age.

Her youthful looks and bold statements set her apart from the countless other vloggers who emerged at that time.

Having established herself as a prominent vlogger, she surprised everyone by participating in The Face Vietnam 2016. Despite being the shortest contestant, she became a strong contender with her massive fan base, charming looks, and expressive personality. This marked her first foray outside her comfort zone, where she learned to walk in high heels, pose in bikinis, and embrace fashion photography. Although she didn’t win the competition, An Nguy proved her willingness to step outside the box, constantly pushing boundaries and reinventing herself.

A significant turning point in her influencer career was her venture into acting, landing the lead role in the movie “Chờ em đến ngày mai” (Waiting for you tomorrow). On September 21st, she took on another acting challenge, portraying a single mother in the film “Chú ơi đừng lấy mẹ con” (Uncle, don’t marry my mom) directed by Đinh Tuấn Vũ.

Whether it’s through evolving her style or exploring new roles, An Nguy’s unwavering personality and strong opinions continue to leave a lasting impression on her audience.

Her continuous efforts have earned her prestigious awards like the “Promising Face” award at Ngôi Sao Xanh 2017, a spot on the “Top Social Media Influencers in Asia 2017” list, and a nomination for “Best Actress” at the Golden Kite Awards 2017.

These achievements have attracted major brands like Maybelline and Pepsi, with An Nguy frequently sharing glamorous photos from her collaborations with them. Her consistent partnerships with renowned brands solidify her significant social influence.

Recently, on August 29th, An Nguy held her first fan meeting in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate her birthday with her fans. This event also marked a reunion of first-generation vloggers like Huyme, JVevermind, and Lâm Việt Anh. They acknowledged their reduced vlogging frequency and public appearances, attributing it to their focus on personal growth, new experiences, and other projects. This heartwarming gathering also featured talented RnB singer Justatee, child actor Hữu Khang, and hundreds of fans.

An Nguy’s fan meeting was attended by several KOLs who rose to fame through social media.

Seven years is a significant milestone for these vloggers, who have successfully established themselves as prominent figures in the Vietnamese influencer landscape. They have proven that they are more than just online stars, capable of achieving success through their talent and hard work. By daring to challenge their perceived image and push their limits, they continue to grow and evolve. We eagerly await their future endeavors and breakthroughs.

A large crowd of fans gathered to meet their idol.

A particularly touching moment during the fan meeting was the unveiling of the “An Nguy Foundation,” a gift from her fans to support women and children in need across Vietnam.
