Indonesia Market: understand the market before you expand

Indonesia is Southeast Asia's largest market by population, but audience behavior is fragmented by city, island, religion, income tier and platform. IMVN helps Vietnamese brands choose the right Indonesian creators, the right cultural context and the right social commerce layer before scaling budget.

Market opportunity

What to understand before expanding into Indonesia

Large but fragmented market

Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Bali and Muslim, young-family and Gen Z audience groups respond to content in very different ways.

Brief by region and persona

Social commerce is a key layer

TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and marketplaces often interweave; creators build not just awareness but purchase consideration.

Connect content to the sales funnel

Trust comes from community

Honest reviews, relatable lifestyle, family/community proof and category-standard compliance matter more than overly polished ad messaging.

Especially for beauty, F&B, mom & baby

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum budget for a campaign in Indonesia?

It depends on the creator mix (nano/micro/macro), content volume, channels and level of local support. Send a brief for IMVN to propose the right budget, timeline and cost range.

Is a deposit required before locking creators?

Yes. Once the proposal and priority creator list are agreed, IMVN confirms a deposit to hold creator schedules, prepare contracts and begin campaign coordination. The remainder is paid at agreed acceptance milestones.

Do we need a representative office in Indonesia?

Not required. IMVN can run localization, creator contracts and campaign coordination on behalf of Vietnamese brands. For regulated categories, brands should prepare product dossiers, import documents, BPOM registration, halal papers or related legal documents if there are claims, sampling or sales in the Indonesian market.

What product documents or paperwork should we prepare?

It depends on the category. If the campaign involves cosmetics, food, supplements, health products, mom & baby or regulated goods, brands should prepare product dossiers, goods documentation, BPOM registration, halal papers or claim guidelines if applicable so creators do not communicate beyond what is permitted.

How long does the first campaign take?

Research, creator shortlisting, content checks and first creator activation usually take 4-8 weeks before the campaign officially launches.
