IMVN worked with a Vietnamese client preparing a project with creators in Thailand. The client provided inspection records and regulatory files already held in Vietnam. From a marketing perspective, the project looked advanced. From a local-market perspective, the product had not yet passed the relevant Thailand gate.

Documents from one market are not a passport

A document accepted in Vietnam or another country does not automatically replace Thailand requirements. The team still had to establish the product category, local applicant, product version, scope of approval and whether the intended creator claims were covered.

Nearly six months of processing changed the commercial risk

Preparation and submission took almost six months. During that period, holding creator dates could have created deposits, production costs and lost opportunities. Publishing would have placed a local creator publicly beside a product whose local status was unresolved.

The stop was at product level

The local authority ultimately rejected the application because the product did not meet the standard applied in Thailand. Based on the project information recorded by IMVN, the issue did not originate from the creator or the content draft.

A creator can follow the brief perfectly and the campaign can still be unfit for release.

Cost exposure should rise only after each gate

The go/no-go record IMVN would require

  • Exact product and version reviewed.
  • Market, confirming authority or qualified owner, and document scope.
  • Work allowed to proceed: research, hold, production or release.
  • Open conditions, owner and due date.
  • Final decision and affected bookings.

The lesson is converted into a multi-market documentation checklist and a regional-local approval workflow.

This anonymised case reflects one project and is not legal advice. Product category, market and timing can change the applicable requirements. Before publication, IMVN should verify the product category, the near-six-month timeline, the authority name and the exact wording of the rejection against internal evidence.
